今年2021年は1971年から50年目。
1971年は特別な年だったというApple TV+の番組「1971」があったり、 やたら50周年記念盤がリリースされているので、今年でリリース50周年になるのはどういうアルバムだろうと気になった。
片っ端から調べてもいいがそんな時間もないので、ふだん史料確認に使っているRateYourMusic.comで ”1971年リリースのアルバムでユーザ評価が高いもの” トップ50を抜き出してみた。
そのリストが以下になる。
リリース年月日は本国でのもの、またクラシックとサントラは除いてある。
10位までは妥当(それでもCANが3位)だが、10位にアリス・コルトレーン、12位がComus(コーマス)というように意外なアーティストも上位にいる。もちろんそのアルバム自体はそれだけ高評価されてしかるべきものだが。
いちおう50位までは順位を付けてみたが、番外にそれ以外の目立つものを入れてみた。
ようするにフラワー・トラベリング・バンドを入れたかったのだが。
それにしてもこうやって並べてみると、自分が日常的に聴いている音楽が実は半世紀前のものだったということにちょっとショックを受けている。大正時代に江戸時代の音楽を聴いているのと同じだから。
