1985年から40年
今年2025年は1985年から40年目。
いつも史料確認に使っているRateYourMusic.comで ”1985年リリースのアルバムでユーザ評価が高いもの” トップ100を抜き出してみた。
40年前のポップカルチャーを音楽からの視点で捉えるとどのような様子だったが分かるだろう。
ただし、1983年頃からリストはメタルとそれ以外という構図になってしまって傾向が見えないので、いったんメタルはリストから取り除くことにした。
1985年のトップ100のリストは次のとおり。リリース年月日は本国でのものである。
1位はケイト・ブッシュの「愛のかたち(Hounds Of Love)」。1980年代のやり過ぎ感の強いケイト・ブッシュの中でもわりとポップなアルバムであること、それとNetflixのドラマに端を発するケイト・ブッシュ再評価もあっての1位。でもケイト・ブッシュのたぶん最高傑作だろうし納得感はある。
あとは普通に英国のニューウェイブ/ポスト・パンク、アメリカのオルタナ/ポスト・パンクといったアルバムが並ぶ。
この時期のポストパンクな流れがエレクトロニカ、エクスペリメンタルから現在へと続いているし、アメリカのオルタナ、特にオルタナ・カントリーはアメリカーナと名前を変え天下を取っているので、たぶん1975年のリストよりは今も見ても親近感があると思う。
よく80年代は産業ロックだったとか言われるが当時も今もさほど人気がなかったことが分かる。またJazzも1985年には既に死んでいて何も新しいものを産み出せていなかったようだ。
さらに、70年代はあれほど元気だったブラジル音楽がこの1985年のリストにはまったく出てこない。軍事独裁から民政移管への時期で音楽どころではなかったのかもしれない。
あと昨今のシティ・ポップの盛り上がりの影響か、日本のアーティストたちも多くランクインしている。P-Model、日向敏文、八神純子(Junko)、ラジ、戸川純、中森明菜、ラウドネス。さらにはK.Yoshimatsu(吉松幸四郎)まで！
