1975年から50年
今年2025年は1975年から50年目。
いつも史料確認に使っているRateYourMusic.comで ”1975年リリースのアルバムでユーザ評価が高いもの” トップ100を抜き出してみた。
リストをトップ100まで広げると俯瞰的に50年前の様子が分かるだろう。また、トップ100はロック/ソウル/レゲエに絞り、Jazz編とブラジル/ラテン編は別リストにしてそれぞれトップ10を紹介する。
1975年を代表するアルバムは何だろうとちょっと考えてみよう。大げさで勿体ぶったプログレは既に死滅寸前でその代わりプロト・パンクなプログレが話題になっていたし、ストーンズはお休み中だったけどツェッペリンは健在だったし、NYパンクが話題になったりスプリングスティーンがブレイクしたり。
ということでリストのトップを見たら、まさかのあのアルバムであった。でも納得感はある。

ピンク・フロイドの「炎〜あなたがここにいてほしい(Wish You Were Here)」が1位である。
リアルタイムの評価は決して高くはなかった気もするが「Shine On You Crazy Diamond 」と「Wish You Were Here」というシド・バレットへの想いでもあり、もっと普遍的な意味にも取れる大名曲が2曲も収録されていて徐々に評価が高まった作品である。フロイドの最高傑作と考える人も多いだろうし納得の1位。
その他トップ10にはディランの「血の轍(Blood on the Tracks)」、ツェッペリンの「フィジカル・グラフィティ(Physical Graffiti)」、スプリングスティーンの「明日なき暴走(Born to Run)」といった当時リリースされた瞬間から名盤扱いされたアルバムもある。
でもイーノ「緑世界(Another Green World)」やパティ・スミスの「牝馬(Horses)」は今でこその評価だろう。当時のイーノは知る人ぞ知る、パティ・スミスも賛否でいえば否定的な意見の方が多かったんだから。
1975年はいわゆるオールドウェイブの最後の時期でお気楽なロックバンドはほとんど居なくななり、パンク前夜としてプロト・パンクなアーティストがさらに勢いを増していた年ということも判ると思う。

1〜50位までと50〜100位は分かりやすいようにリストを分けてみた。
ブラックミュージックも含めているので分かると思うが、フェラとかパーラメントやアイズレー・ブラザーズなどが顔を出していて、こうしたアフロ、ファンク系の人気が高まったのもこの頃だったと思う。
ニール・ヤングが「今宵その夜(Tonight’s the Night)」と「ズマ(Zuma)」の2作もトップ10に入る。その後パンク／NWにシンパサイズしてそのまま今に至るのだからすごい人だ。
普通に人気投票をすればずっと上位に来るだろうジェフ・ベックの「ギター殺人者の凱旋(Blow by Blow)」、フリートウッド・マックの「ファンタスティック・マック(Fleetwood Mac)」、クイーンの「オペラ座の夜(A Night at the Opera)」などが意外と低いのも面白い。
あと日本のアシッド・フォークの河名伸江の「のぶえの海」、シュガー・ベイブの「Songs」、もっと順位は低いが森田童子の「グッドバイ」やにタージ・マハル旅行団(小杉武久)の「August 1974」などがトップ100入りしているし、100位には届かなかったが山崎ハコの「飛・び・ま・す」、佐井好子の「萬花鏡」そしてファー・イースト・ファミリー・バンドの「Nipponjin」もかなり上位に入っている。
日本の70年代〜80年代のシティポップは海外で人気らしいが、もしかして日本のアシッド・フォークも徐々に来ているのかもしれない。

ロキシー・ミュージックの「Siren」やザ・バンドの「南十字星(Northern Lights – Southern Cross)」といった昔だったらベスト10入りするかしないかのいわゆる名盤が100位手前にいるのは時代なのか。

トップはジャッキー・マクリーンの「Jacknife」。
やはりフリー、スピリチュアルなサウンドが主流で、そこにドナルド・バードやトニー・ウィリアムスといったフュージョン・クロスオーバーな音が顔を出すのも1974年と同じである。
このリストには入っていないがマイルスのアガルタ、パンゲアも1975年である。
